According to Sampson Nyamekye of Hello FM, when residents realized that the land guards whose leader was called Kweku Asante was in the area, they called the attention of the police.
The suspect Kwaku Asante and his gang have been on police wanted list for killing 32year old Yaw Akoto on 24th October, 2009.
Police launched an operation to arrest the fugitives following reports that they had re-surfaced in the town.
Sampson also said that, immediately the police got there, the land guards started firing indiscriminately forcing the police to call for reinforcement from Kumasi Buffalo Unit. The land guards continued shooting and the police also started shooting back.
