Some years ago, I was working as a hypnotherapist and Reiki Master in London and started experimenting for better results. I had a very high success rate for stopping smoking with hypnosis but was looking for help specifically with phobias. I was not satisfied that a client could completely stop smoking but still had some of the phobia after the treatment was complete.

Phobias in particular attracted me to this experimentation because I realized with an epiphany that a phobia is just a manifestation of fear stored in the body. It felt like an energy disruption to me. And since Reiki healing for chakra balancing is a great way to balance energy disruptions, I started doing a Reiki chakra balancing before the hypnotherapy treatment for phobia clients. This helped but I still was not sure how else to get a 100% phobia result at least most of the time.

Then I learned EFT and was pleasantly surprised to find that my epiphany about an energy disruption was already discovered by others before me. EFT is based on the Discovery Principle, which states that the cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body’s energy system. As I became more experienced, I realized that for the energy balancing to work properly, the energy disruption had to be brought to the surface. EFT does that very safely and gently. Short for Emotional Freedom Techniques, EFT releases negative emotions by stimulating the acupressure meridians whilst gently bringing some of the energy disruption to the surface for release. The acupressure meridians are stimulated by tapping them with two fingers. These meridians are the same meridian lines as discovered by the Chinese thousands of years ago. The meridian system is an energy system just like the chakra system. Balancing either or both really makes all the difference for that complete result. The thought of an energy disruption may seem strange at first. After all, surely emotions belong in the mind and the brain and are far removed from any new age chakra system or acupressure meridian lines. But consider this. Have you ever heard someone say they had palpitations in their heart, sweaty palms, or butterflies in their stomach when nervous? Or perhaps you have heard of the expression “frozen with fear” or “boiling with rage”? All these are manifestations far from the head and brain; and yet we have all felt them.

I have since experimented with Reiki and EFT together and find that a mixture of Reiki, EFT, and gentle hypnotic suggestions work wonders together. This is so effective that it can be done totally in the waking state. And the bonus is that it can be a very releasing and pleasant experience.
